The women’ traditional costume of Elymbos would demand an analytical
approach of its cultural context, since it fits in harmonically, reflecting and
interpreting it with the clothing rules. But the area of an announcement
hardly allows it. For that reason I am not going to attempt it, and as well I
am not going to refer to the whole of the garments, nor to a detailed
description of the ones I choose, but only to their various social meanings
and functions, those that are in effect until the first postwar years and often
