40 GREEK COSTUMES
FROM THE DORA STRATOU THEATRE COLLECTION
This album contains a rare collection of traditional costumes gathered from all over Greece in the decade of 50’s, by Dora Stratou, the founder of the omonymous theatre of folk dances in Athens. It is highly unusual for a theatre to present its costumes in a book. Theatre costumes, like stage settings, are designed and made to serve performance; thus the spectator sees them as an integral part of the whole presentation. These costumes alone have nothing to say because they were made for the stage and not to be worn outside of it. Also available in Greek-English edition.
